Bio

Brent Davis became the 10th-ever Director of Athletics at College of the Sequoias on July 1, 2013. As Director of Athletics, Davis oversees a successful California Community College Athletics Department comprised of 18 varsity sport programs, nearly 600 student-athletes, and over 70 coaches, faculty, and staff members. Davis also serves as an Academic Dean at COS and oversees the Physical Education, Kinesiology, Dance, Public Health, and Sports Medicine departments.

Under Davis’ leadership, COS has increased the size of its athletic department from 300 students in 2013, to nearly 600 in 2024. The 2022-2023 school year proved to be a banner year for the Giants, with each COS sport making the post season, while earning a department wide 3.11 grade point average.

Davis has also served in various leadership roles in the state having served on the executive board of the California Community College Athletic Directors Association from 2019 to 2024, including serving a term as president during the 2021-2022 school year. He has also sat on the 3C2A’s state management council since 2019 and is currently serving a two-year term as the 3C2A Management council chair, which will conclude in the Spring of 2025. He has also served as the chair of the state Competition Committee, a member of the 3C2A finance committee, the 3C2A Professional Development Committee, the Management Council Bylaw 2 Committee, and is currently a member of the 3C2A Constitution Committee.

Davis, a former basketball student-athlete at COS, took over the athletic director position after having nearly two decades of coaching experience and working in higher education institutions. Most recently, Davis served as a men’s basketball coach at San Jose State University before coming back home to Visalia. Prior to San Jose State, Davis coached and taught at Bakersfield College and San Diego Mesa College and Redwood High School. Davis has dedicated his entire professional career to helping young people advance with their goals and their lives.

Born in Tulare, Ca., Davis grew up in Visalia, attending Redwood High School and receiving his bachelor’s degree at San Diego State after attending COS. Davis went on to earn a Master’s Degree at Azusa Pacific University.

Davis and his wife Aimee, who is also a former COS student-athlete, reside in Visalia with their two daughters.
