Giants advance to second round in the State Playoffs

With their backs against the wall in a must win game, the ninth-seeded College of the Sequoias baseball team defeated No. 8 Feather River, 10-5, on Saturday.
With the victory, the Giants captured the best-of-three series, and move on to the NorCal Super Regional.
After an RBI single by COS first baseman Oscar Reyes in the first inning, Feather River scored five unanswered with a two run second inning, and a three run sixth inning.
After Golden Eagles starting pitcher Justin Watland was pulled, the Giants pounced and scored six runs on reliever Keoki Planas in the top of the seventh inning.
With the bases loaded, Wyatt Tilley got the scoring spree started with a walk.
Then back-to-back-to-back singles by Tucker Mendonca, Andrew Perez, and Oscar Reyes eached scored one run to tie the game at 5-5.
The scoring was capped by Rudy Vasquez reaching first by error, and Dakota Stilson walking to lead 7-5.
Sequoias would add three runs of insurance in the eighth and ninth inning.
El Diamante alum Isaiah Espinoza was the recipient of the win, with Troy Stainbrook recording the save.
