Bio

Serving as a pitching coach for College of the Sequoias since 2005, Dana Gomez has helped over forty Giants pitchers continue their playing careers at the four-year and professional level.  One player from the 2014 championship squad, Dylan Lee, is currently playing in the minor leagues.

A graduate of Redwood High School, Gomez played from 1981 to 1983 at COS for legendary coaches Bert Holt and Pete Beiden.  While at COS, Coach Gomez posted a two-year record of 19-5 as a starting pitcher.  He also earned first-team all-league honors two years in a row.  Coach Gomez moved on to pitch for California State University Hayward, where he was named the Most Valuable Pitcher in his junior year.  Gomez was selected in the 1986 winter draft by the Boston Red Sox and played two and a half seasons, with a stint at the Triple A level, before ending his professional baseball career.

Coach Gomez returned to COS in 1988 as an assistant to Coach Holt.  He spent three years at Redwood High School as the pitching coach prior to joining the COS staff in the 2004 season.

Coach Gomez and his wife Tammy live in Tulare.  They have three children: Nicole, Erica, and Chase.
