FRESNO - COS men's basketball went 2-1 in the Fresno Classic this past weekend.
Sequoias head coach Rusty Smith had high praise for his team for competing in a tough tournament.
"Considering the high level of competition, I was very pleased," Smith said. "The team is gaining experience an improving every game."
The Giants (3-3) were defeated 85-60 by state No.1 San Francisco on Friday.
San Francisco held COS to 33.3 percent shooting from the field.
Sophomore guard Zac Nuttall came off the bench and led COS in scoring with 15 points. All of the field goals he made came behind the arc, as he was 5-10 shooting from the three-point line.
Freshman forward Kentrey Bynum finished with 14 points in the defeat.
On Saturday, COS squeaked out a narrow 67-60 win over Mt. San Antonio.
Freshman guard Isaiah Johnson had a game high 21 points in the win.
The Giants collectively shot better as a whole, shooting for 51.3 percent.
COS would end the tournament with a 71-66 win over Sierra on Sunday.
Freshman guard Austin Armstead had a game high 15 points. Bynum added 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals in the win.
Sequoias next tournament will be in two weeks on Dec. 2 through Dec. 4. The Giants travel to San Francisco to compete in the CCSF Tournament.
