College of the Sequoias' guard Solomon Taylor's made jump shot, and lockdown defense propelled the Giants men's basketball team to an 80-79 overtime victory against rival Fresno City on Wednesday night.
Taylor's team-high 19 points and Isaiah Johnson's 17 helped snap a two-game losing streak for COS.
The Giants led at halftime 47-36, but a pesky Rams squad rallied in the second half to force the game to overtime knotted up at 73-73.
Free throws proved to be the difference maker as Sequoias outshot Fresno City 82.8 percent to 69.7 percent.
Rusty Smith's squad sits at fourth place in the Central Valley Conference with a record of 5-4. The Giants are currently 15-8 overall on the season.
COS hosts Merced College at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Porter Field House. Sequoias previously defeated the Blue Devils 77-63 on January 10.
