Giants Head to U.S. Olympic Trials

College of the Sequoias Track & Field will be represented by two of our former student-athletes at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team Trials, taking place from June 21-30 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. 

Athletes who finish in the top three of their respective events and meet the qualifying standards will earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic roster. 

The Olympic Team Trials began this past weekend, featuring Quincy Hall and Jamal Britt. Quincy Hall, hailing from Kansas City, MO, competed for College of the Sequoias in 2017-2018. During his time here, he was the 2017 3C2A State Champion in the 4 x 400m relay, 400m, and 400m hurdles, and the 2018 3C2A State Champion in the 400m and 400m hurdles. Under his contribution, the Giants won the 2017 3C2A State Track and Field Championships. Hall continued his stellar career at the University of South Carolina, becoming a two-time All-American and winning the 400m hurdles at the NACAC U23 Championship. 

Jamal Britt, from Las Vegas, NV, competed for the Giants in 2019. He was the 3C2A State Champion in the 110 hurdles, 400m hurdles, and long jump. Britt furthered his athletic career at the University of Iowa, where he became a three-time All-American and finished second in the 110m hurdles in 2021. 

At the trials, Quincy Hall won his heat in the first round with a time of 44.60 seconds, advancing to the semi-finals where he clocked 44.42 seconds. He will compete in the 400m finals tonight at 6:59 p.m. Jamal Britt will begin his qualifier round in the 110m hurdles tonight at 7:05 p.m. The Olympic Team Trials will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
