No. 6 Giants take Central Valley Conference Title

The sixth-ranked College of the Sequoias Giants used a big second half to defeat No. 14 Fresno City College 64-50 on Saturday.
The win clinched an outright Central Valley Conference women's basketball championship for Sequoias.
COS (25-3, 12-0 CVC) entered its showdown with Fresno (23-8, 10-2 CVC) clinging on to a one-game CVC lead.
Fresno got the upper hand early on with a 14-11 lead after the first quarter; a three-point advantage they would take into halftime, 29-26.
However, Sequoias scored the first six points of the third quarter, including back-to-back layups from Idalis Rubalcava and Dojahnae Senegal to go up 32-29.
The game was tied three more times before COS took a 43-39 lead into the fourth quarter.
COS would pull away with the help of Rubalcava's 16-point, 16-rebound double-double.
Senegal also contributed 14 points and Zharia McCollum chipped in 10 off the bench.
The win will serve as a momentum booster for the Giants as they get set for the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships. The tournament will begin next week, with pairings announced on Monday.
