No. 1 Giants Defeat Fresno City, Stay Unbeaten at 20-0

The No. 1 state-ranked College of the Sequoias women's basketball team continued their streak with a 67-44 victory over Fresno City College on Saturday afternoon, improving to 20-0. Jocelyn Medina (Pierce HS) led the way with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Morgan Trigueiro (Caruthers HS) chipped in 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Campbell Vieg *(Chico HS) contributed an all-around performance with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists as the Giants controlled both ends of the floor. 

The Giants jumped out to a 23-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, maintaining control throughout the game. They controlled the boards with a 38-22 rebounding advantage and forced 23 turnovers, turning them into 14 steals. Kaitlin Giacone (Eureka HS) added 12 points and 9 rebounds, and Lucia Ricci (Seattle, WA) added 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks. COS limited Fresno to just 36% shooting from the field and capitalized on their defensive efforts by hitting 81.3% of their free throws.

The Giants will next travel to face Merced College on Wednesday, January 22, before returning home to host Porterville College on Saturday, January 25. Both games provide opportunities for COS to continue building on their record and solidify their standing as the top-ranked team in the state.
