COS Volleyball took on their rival, the Fresno City Rams, in their first home match of the season Wednesday night. The Giants (3-3, 1-1) came up short, losing in three sets to the Rams (14-25, 28-30, 23-25). COS was slow to start but came back fighting in the second and third sets. Head coach Kim Rix said, "I was pleased with the way the girls fought back after the first set. We have a young team and it showed the first set. We fought harder in the second and third but couldn't get over the hump."
Idalis Rubalcava (Sierra Pacific) led the Giants in kills with 15, and she also contributed 15 digs. Brittany Roush (El Diamante) played libero and ended the night with 17 digs. Emily Thompson (Hanford) had a .071 serving percentage and also had three blocks. "We had some good individual performances" said Rix, "but our best team volleyball is ahead of us."
The Giants will look to grab a second league victory on the road this Friday against Porterville College at 6pm.
