Men's Soccer's trip to the state capital did not go as planned, as they were defeated 3-2 by Cosumnes River on Tuesday.
COS (6-5-1, 2-1-1 CVC) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead when forward Jonathan Gutierrez scored both goals. Gutierrez leads the team with 12 goals this season.
Ethan Krebs scored first for the Hawks on an unassisted goal to cut the lead to 2-1. Shortly after, Antonio Almaraz tied the game up for Cosumnes River at 2-2.
Sequoias could not take advantage of being a man up as Cosumnes River midfielder Antonio Almaraz received a red card.
Cameron Peuse scored the game winner for the Hawks and sealed the hosts sixth win of the season.
The Giants will continue Big 8/CVC crossover play on Friday, as they host Folsom Lake at 4 p.m.
