COS football defeats DeAnza in their 87th Homecoming
The COS defensive unit had arguably their best performance of the 2015 season. COS recorded their fourth win of the season and go into next week's home game against Santa Rosa Junior College 4-0. The COS defense allowed only 6 net yards of rushing on the night. "We did a good job of controlling the line of scrimmage defensively, our defense played a great four quarters of football" said COS head coach Irv Pankey.
Lincoln Toulimasaealie, a 6-4 245 freshmen defensive end tallied nine tackles, two sacks, and four tackles for a loss on the night for the Giants. "Lincoln was all over the field for us. He had a great game" said Pankey. Freshmen defensive backs Mark Meynisse and Kevin Haynes provided stellar pass coverage with Meynisse recording two interceptions and Haynes recording one.
COS outgained DeAnza in total yards 389 to 210. The COS running game proved to be the deciding factor once again by gaining 273 yards on the ground. Freshmen tailback Jeremiah Johnson recorded his second 100 yard rushing game of the season with 101 yards. Freshmen tailback Devon Calhoun just missed a 100 yard game by rushing for 98 yards on the night. Calhoun also scored two touchdowns.
COS will play their second home game in a row this Saturday October 3rd at 5pm against Santa Rosa Junior College in Visalia.
