Robert Jackson Signs With UNLV
Sophomore defensive back Robert Jackson has signed a national letter of intent to play football next fall at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. "I'm very excited" said Jackson, "UNLV is a great fit for me and Coach Williams (the UNLV defensive backs coach) and I hit it off during the recruiting process." Jackson was a 2015 All-Northern California selection for COS this season after recording 7.2 tackles per game in conference play. Jackson will move to cornerback full time at UNLV and will be expected to complete for a starting spot immediately.
"Robert came here from Florida as a tight end. He had the athletic ability and drastically improved his skill level after we made the move to defense. He is a respectful young man and I wish I had 90 Robert Jackson's on the team" said COS football coach Irv Pankey.
Robert was also a participant in the Student-Athlete Mentor Program at COS for the past three semesters. "The mentor program helped me stay organized and on top of my school work" said Jackson. "I feel like I am prepared to move on academically."
"COS was the right environment for me to be in. I focused on school and football here and the campus and the community accepted me. I had a great time here" said Jackson.
Robert will enroll at UNLV for the spring semester just a few weeks away and will begin to participate in UNLV's spring strength and conditioning program as well as spring practice later in the semester.
