Bio
Dallas Jensen was hired in the spring of 2019 to become the 15th head coach in COS Men's Basketball History.
During his time at COS, Jensen has gone to four elite eights, including one final four and one state championship appearance. His coaching accolades include five Central Valley Conference championships and three Coach of the Year selections. He has helped transfer 27 student-athletes to four-year universities, which includes five Division I student-athletes. Jensen also helped develop six California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) All-State selections, which includes two State Player of the Year selections (Ryan Johnson and Javohn Garcia).
Prior to COS, Jensen complied a 52-7 record in two years as a head coach at Gavilan College (2017-19). Before Jensen's arrival, Gavilan had lost 20 or more games each season over the previous 17 seasons. During his first season in 2017-18, the Rams went 25-4, tied Cabrillo for the Coast-South Conference title at 9-3 and reached the 3C2A Northern California Regional Final. Gavilan was even better the next season (2018-19), going 27-3 overall and 12-0 in the conference while rising to No. 6 in the California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA) state poll before reaching the regional final of the NorCal playoffs. They were Coast South Conference Champions two consective years and Dallas Jensen was the 2018-19 Coast South Coach of the Year. The Rams' 52 wins under Jensen exceeded the total Gavilan had won in the 12 seasons before his arrival. Jensen helped eleven players land scholarships with four-year universities and one sign a professional contract during his two seasons at Gavilan.
A proven winner, Jensen began his coaching career as an assistant coach for CCCMBCA Hall of Famer and Tulare native, Percy Carr for three seasons (2012-15). In his final year with the Jaguars, they went 25-3 (12-0) and reached the Northern California Regional Semi-finals.
Prior to his time coaching at San Jose City College, Jensen was a former player at San Jose City College for Coach Carr and went on to finish his playing career and bachelor's degree at BYU-Hawaii. "The biggest thrill I get from coaching at the Community College level is to see my player's move on. Our number one goal of the program is to help each young man reach his goals and continue on with their education" said Jensen. He received a Master's of Science in Recreation & Sport Administration from Western Kentucky University.
Coach Jensen, and his wife Kim, have four children and reside in Visalia.
