Kim Dyst Invitational Results
Sequoias' Track and field traveled to Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock for their third meet of the season. The Giants not only competed against other junior colleges but four year universities as well.
COS Women scored 88 points and finished tenth overall.
The Lady Giants had three first place finishers. The first came in the javelin throw as Vanessa Wong threw for 25.11m.
Next was in the 100m hurdles as sophomore Cumisha Hobbs finished at 15.87.
Lastly, in the long jump, freshman Deshaunda Morrison took first overall at 5.58m. Behind her in second was her teammate KiAnna Cunningham at 5.44m.
Cunningham also placed fourth in the 100m dash running a 13.55. The freshman has not won the event for two straight meets after finishing first in the Bakersfield Invitational. Briana Shufford finished second, running a 13.33 in the event.
Three sport athlete Idalis Rubalcava finished ninth overall in the high jump with 1.50m. This was the first event of the season for the Sierra Pacific High alum.
COS continued to show why their 4x100 relay team is the best in California. The ladies finished at a time of 48.05 which was good for second overall but first for all Junior College's. Cal State Dominguez Hills edged out the Giants at 47.95.
On the men's side, COS finished twelfth with a combined 63 points.
Bryce Huggins continued his dominant performances as he finished first in the long jump at 7.36m. The Freshman has now placed first, three weeks in a row.
In the 400m dash, a pair of Giant sophomore's finished one-two in heat five. Theon Lewis ran for a time of 49.82. Christian Carter trailed by less than a second, finishing at 50.30.
The discus throw saw two Sequoias athletes place in different flights. Flight three saw Hunter Armon throw for 41.51m, which was good for sixth place. Shaquill Singuineau came in fifteenth overall as he threw for 36.26m in the fourth flight.
In the shot put, the Trinidad international, Siguineau, finished third in flight three at 14.90m.
Sequoias has three meets planned this weekend. On Friday, March 11, they have The Occidental Carnival in Los Angeles and The Jack Albiani Invite in Modesto. On March 11 and 12, they compete in The Ben Brown Invite at Fullerton.
