COS Falls to Cerritos; Day 3 Gilcrest Results
College of the Sequoias couldn't hold on to a late lead as Cerritos College defeated the host 47-42 in the winners side of the bracket on Saturday. "I was proud of our effort tonight. We outplayed them for most of the game. We made some late mistakes that cost us the game that we will have to clean up" said COS head coach Ray Alvarado.
COS received 14 points and 11 rebounds from Alexandria Tobie and will play next Saturday against Foothill College at home at 5pm.

Game 17 Sacramento 71 Riverside 65: Sacramento City College (5-2) had 29 points from their bench to outlast Riverside (7-3) in the consolation bracket. Sacramento received 12 points each from Jessica Lauderdale and Jasmine Bernardo. Riverside was paced by DoyleBonet Walker with 18. Sacramento will now face Antelope Valley College in the consolation championship on Sunday at 10am.
Game 18 Antelope Valley College 64 Solano 35: Antelope Valley (3-5) jumped out to a 30-15 halftime lead over Solano (1-5) to advance to the consolation championship game against Sacramento City College. Antelope Valley was led by Shantanel Bivens who scored 21 points which included a perfect seven for seven from the free throw line.
Game 19 Pasadena 62 Ventura 57: Pasadena (7-3) was able to outlast Ventura (6-3) in the fifth place bracket and received 18 points from Judith Espinoza to advance to Sunday. Ventura received 10 points from Aubri Smith in the loss.
Game 20 Cerritos 47 College of the Sequoias 42: Cerritos (7-3) was able to outscore the host Giants (6-5) by a score of 14-4 in the fourth quarter to advance to the fifth place game on Sunday against Pasadena. Alexandria Tobie tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds. Cerritos was led by Kennedi Cooper who tallied 12 points.
Game 21 Delta 62 Santa Rosa 54: San Joaquin Delta College (8-1) didn't trail in the second half as they beat conference rival Santa Rosa Junior College (4-2) in the semifinals of the tournament. Delta received 18 points from Kaitlin DaDalt who hit three 3 pointers. Santa Rosa was led by Kylie Oden who scored 12 points. Delta returns to the tournament finals for the first time since 2010. Santa Rosa will now play in the third place game at 2pm.
Game 22 Sierra 62 Mt. SAC 54: Sierra College (7-2) upsets previously unbeaten Mt. San Antonio College (9-1) in the semifinals of the Gilcrest. Sierra used a 21-15 fourth quarter to pull hold off Mt. SAC. Mt. SAC will now face Santa Rosa in the 3rd place game. Sierra will now face conference rivals Delta College in the Gilcrest finals. Sierra college 13 points and 11 rebounds from Destinee Bowie while Mt. SAC was paced by Alize Lofton with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
