Justin Schneringer was hired as the College of the Sequoias Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach in 2024, coming over with Head Coach Tyler Newton after a successful four-year stint at Butte College.

Schneringer has been instrumental in coaching throughout his career. In 2023, he helped lead Butte College to the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) State Championship game, and in 2024, the Roadrunners made it to the Final Four. Over his four seasons at Butte, the team amassed an impressive 104-20 (.839) record, securing four consecutive Golden Valley Conference titles and making deep postseason runs, including an Elite 8 appearance in 2022. Schneringer’s coaching emphasizes defense and player development, a foundation that was vital to the program’s dominance in both conference and state competition.

Schneringer’s ability to mentor players and foster growth has been a key component of his coaching philosophy. Under his guidance, numerous athletes have earned scholarships to four-year universities, reflecting his dedication to both on-court success and the future of his players. Known for his attention to detail, Schneringer really focuses on defensive schemes and in-game strategy. His contributions have consistently elevated the teams he has worked with.

Before his time at Butte, Schneringer gained valuable coaching experience in his hometown of Chico, CA. He began his coaching career as the head coach of the Chico High School boys’ freshman team before joining the Pleasant Valley High School (PVHS) coaching staff in 2017. In 2018, he helped Pleasant Valley capture the CIF Division 3 State Championship, guiding the team to a remarkable 32-2 record that showcased his knack for building winning programs at all levels.

As a player, Schneringer suited up for Shasta College from 2012-2014 after graduating from Chico High in 2012. His background as a player informs his coaching style, providing him with an in-depth understanding of the game.
