Giants softball to open conference play at Merced
College of the Sequoias will launch a 16-game Central Valley Conference schedule with a doubleheader April 20 at Merced.
The first game is set for 1 p.m. with the second expected to start at 3 p.m.
The Giants (1-1) were idle last week after opening a season delayed and shortened by Covid-19 safety precautions with a doubleheader split at Modesto on April 10.
Pitcher Olivia Aguigam (El Diamante) has struck out 17 batters in 12 1/3 innings so far this season.
Offensively, Sequoias has been led by Emily Juarez (Hanford), who opened 5 for 8 (.625) with a triple, four stolen bases and three runs.
Emily Ibarra (Redwood) is 4 for 8 (.500) with a double, triple and three runs, while Audra Pratt (Golden West) is 3 for 8 with a double and three RBIs.
