COS Wins Conference Title
COS Takes the CVC Men's Track and Field Crown:
Sequoias' traveled to Merced this past weekend for the Central Valley Conference Championships and showed why they are not only a force to be reckoned with in the Valley, but the State.
The Giant Men placed first in every CVC event except for four, as they came in first overall with a score of 126. Fresno City came in second with 47 points.
In the 100m Dash Holland Cabara crossed the finish line in first with a time of 10.51. Cabara followed up the performance by finishing in first of the 200m dash.
Sophomore hurdler Chris Green put on a show in both hurdles events. In the 110m, Green beat a pair of competitors from Merced to finish first at 15.16. Green then smoked everyone in the 400m as he finished first once again at 53.53.
The Giants esteemed relay teams had a bad night in the 4x100m relay as they were disqualified. In the 4x400m relay, COS came in second at 3:35.78, just behind Fresno City.
Bronson Espinoza (CVC) won the individual title in the shot put and the hammer thrown and was awarded the CVC Male Field Athlete of the year by the conference.

On the other side, the Sequoias' Women just missed finishing in first by five points as they place second with 99 points. Fresno City came up on top of the CVC Championships with 104 points.
Freshman Jordan Zorn had a busy day as she competed in three distance events. Zorn was not fazed as she came in first in every single race. She was awarded the CVC Female Track Athlete of the year at the end of the race.
Just like her teammate Zorn, Deshaunda Morrison had a great day in Merced. Just like the rest of the season, Morrison finished first in both 100m and 400m hurdles. Morrison also added a first place championship in the Long Jump for extra measure.
Unlike the COS Men, the Lady Giants were the opposite as they had no problems in both relay events, as they swept the 100m and 400m races.

Next up for the Giants is the NorCal Trials in Hayward, CA on May 6 and May 14. Multiple COS athletes will look to qualify for the California State Championships on May 20-21 in San Diego, CA.
