Meet Alyssa Block
Cross Country & Track and Field
Year at COS: Sophomore
High School: Exeter
Major at COS: Education
GPA: 3.80
Alyssa is currently in her sophomore year at College of the Sequoias and has established herself as one of the better distance runners ever to compete at COS. During her freshmen year at COS Alyssa won the Northern California Cross Country individual championship and finished second at the state championships. During the track and field season last year she finished third overall in the 5k and she won the state individual title in the 1500m. Alyssa is currently being recruited by UNLV, Long Beach State, and Cal State Fullerton to name a few. Alyssa would like to finish college and become an elementary school teacher before going into administration. Something that many people do not know about Alyssa is that she only competed in cross country her senior of high school after wanting to be a soccer player. Alyssa jokingly remembers her soccer coach telling her "you should be a runner instead of a soccer player." A little known fact about Alyssa is that she believes she should have be born in the 1970's because her favorite television show is That 70's Show, she loves 70's music, and she loves fashion from the 70's. Go to Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday November 18th at 10am to watch Alyssa and the rest of the COS Cross Country team compete in the California State Championships.
