Giants Open With Oxnard Invitational
The Giants' Cross Country team is making quite a name for itself, with some standout performances and remarkable student-athletes leading the charge. The most recent competition at the Oxnard Invite showcased the team's talent and potential.
In the Oxnard Invite, the men's team secured an impressive 4th place out of 13 competing programs. Two standouts in this 4 Mile run was Joseph Flores, a Freshman hailing from Tulare Western HS, and Anthony Illan, a Sophomore from Redwood HS. Flores finished the run in 20:34.3 and Illan finished it in 21:42.1, which placed both student-athletes in the Top 25.
The women's team also displayed their prowess at the Oxnard Invite, with four individuals finishing in the top 35 out of a competitive field of 97 competitors. Leading the pack was Dana Ruiz, a Freshman from Tulare Union HS. Ruiz completed the 5K run in 19:43.4, which earned her a spot on the podium with a top-10 finish. Stella Schweizer, a Freshman from Lemoore HS, finished in 21:01.6, Diana Ruiz, a Freshman from Tulare Union HS, finished in 21:07.0, and Anahi Loza, a Sophomore from Golden West HS finished in 21.33.0.
The Giants upcoming meet is the Chabot Twilight in Hayward, California on September 28th.
