Giants fall in fifth set in two consecutive matches
It was a tough week for the College of the Sequoias volleyball team as they dropped both of their matches in the fifth set this past week.
Wednesday saw the Giants fall 3-2 to Cerro Coso at Porter Field House.
The Coyotes took the first and third set, while COS won the second and fourth set.
In the deciding fifth set, Sequoias could not break down Cerro Coso and fell 15-11.
Payton Trimm finished with 20 kills, and Phoebe Todenhoft registered 47 digs on the night.
COS traveled to Sonora on Friday and fell to Columbia College 3-2.
The Giants convincingly won the first set 25-15 but proceeded to drop the next two sets to the Claim Jumpers. Sequoias forced a fifth set but could not mount a complete comeback, losing 15-10.
Trimm once again led the Giants in kills with 14. Valerie Vargas registered 32 assists on the road.
Next up for Sequoias is back to back home matches against Porterville on Wednesday and Taft on Friday. Both contests are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
