COS Football Sends Four To Universities on Spring Signing Day
More to sign in late spring....
The COS football program is sending four players to four-year universities with Wednesday's signing of defensive tackle DaShawnte Lloyd (Baltimore, Md.) to New Mexico State University, Kevin Hayes (Bakersfield High) to Midwestern State College in Texas, and offensive lineman Maleek Brown (Tulare Western) and quarterback Javin Kligo (Ypsilanti, MI) who will both attend Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.
"I am really proud of these guys" said COS head football coach Irv Pankey, "they did a great job in the classroom and on the field. I am happy they are moving on to pursue their education."
Many of the players families came to a gathering in the COS Porter Field House to accompanied by COS teammates and coaches. "I didn't know this many people were going to show up for this, it's exciting" said Deshawnte Lloyd. When asked what message Lloyd would like to send to his mother back home in Baltimore Lloyd replied, "mom, we did it!"
Maleek Brown also had many of his family members present from Tulare. Brown's aunt Davina Amparan had this to say regarding Maleek's signing, "We're all excited for him. We've been waiting; I know he's had a lot of colleges he's been looking at and they've been looking at him. I'm happy for him; very proud."
These four join Robert Jackson, who is already attending UNLV this spring, off of the 2015 COS football team at the next level. "We will have more signees as the spring progress," said Coach Pankey. "We have a handful of four year programs waiting to see how spring grades turn out before we send more out in April and May."
