
COS Stays Hot With Win Over Shasta
COS scores the first 44 points of the game.
The COS Football team (3-1) took the lead with 12:48 in the first quarter and never looked back, defeating Shasta College (now 2-2) 51-14. After the COS defense went three and out on the opening Shasta drive of the game, David Alcantar (Tulare Western) took a punt back 72 yards to give the Giants a 7-0 lead. COS would score the first 44 points of the game before giving up a touchdown with 6:49 to go in the game. Offensive standouts for the Giants were Aiden Galvan (Monache) who rushed for two touchdowns, and Nate Lamb (Tulare Union) who who hit nine different receivers on the day and went 13-21 passing for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Julian Espinosa (Tulare Union) and Lonnie Wessel (Golden West) had 6 and 4 tackles respectively. The COS defense held Shasta to just 60 yards rushing and 146 in the air. Linebacker Dorian Felix also took a 15 interception for a touchdown with 11:47 to go in the game to give the Giants their first defensive touchdown of the season.
"I was pleased with the overall effort of everyone. We had many guys contribute. We had nine guys catch a pass, and nine guys record a rush. It was great to get everyone involved. Our defense was ready and they stuck to the plan. I'm just really proud of all of them" said COS Head Coach Travis Burkett.
COS travels to Diablo Valley College in Concord, this Friday at 7pm.
