
Men's Tennis Heads to CVC Tournament
COS played a doubleheader with Porterville College and in the first match, the Giants won 6-0. Isaac Maciel Jr (Mission Oak HS) & Christopher Rosales (Mt. Whitney HS) won 8-2 in #1 doubles and Jose Salazar (Tulare Western HS) & Kenneth Loy (El Diamante HS) won 8-1 in #2 doubles. Masen Davis (Hanford West HS) won 8-1 in #4 singles and Isaac Navarro won 8-0 in #5 singles. The Giants won 5-1 in the second match. Yufan He (Mission Oak HS) won 8-2 in #3 singles and Frank Cadena (Lemoore HS) won in #5 singles by going 8-1. The Giants improved their record to 7-2 after the matches against Porterville College.
The Giants took on Reedley College next and lost 6-3. They gained a point in doubles as Isaac Maciel Jrand Gilbert Gutierrez (Lindsay HS) won 8-3 in #1 doubles. They also gained 2 points in singles with straight sets by both Juan Ocampo (Tulare Union HS) in #2 singles (6-3, 6-3) and Christopher Rosales in #3 singles (6-2, 6-4).
In their last two matches of the regular season, they went on the road to Fresno City and Modesto Junior College. They lost both matches as they lost to Fresno City 9-0 and lost to Modesto 6-3. Against Modesto, Maciel Jr and Rosales won in #1 doubles 8-3. The other two points came from Rosales in #4 singles by winning in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) and He in #5 singles when he dropped the first set, but won the next two sets (1-6, 7-5, 7-6).
The Giants have been preparing for the Central Valley Conference Tournament, which starts on Monday, April 1 at 8:30 am and is hosted by Fresno City College.
