COS Swim Continues to Record Breaking Season

The COS Swimming and Diving Team competed at the 20 team Hawk Invite at Los Positas College in Livermore, California March 31st and April 1st. The COS men's team hosts a number of standouts at the Hawk Invite including Mark Marroquin (Kingsburg grad and University of Indianapolis commit), Caleb Peltzer (Exeter), Ezra Sisk (El Diamante), Connor Bruton (Mt. Whitney), Zach Welch (Exeter), and Joshy Peters (Redwood).
COS swimmers Joshy Peters and Jillian Lambert (Golden West) came away with the men's and women's Sprinters of the Meet award after stellar performances.
Peters (Redwood High) finished 8th in the 200m backstroke, 2nd in the 200m freestyle, and won both the 50m and 100m freestyle events. "He just continues to get better and better," said COS Head Coach Ally Briano, "He is on his way to peaking at the right time this year."
Jillian Lambert finished 2nd in both the 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle, while earning the top spot in the 50m free. "She is a defending state champion in the 50m free, she had a tremendous off season and Jillian looks great in the water," said Briano.
Sofia Mora (Redwood High) set a new COS record in the 50m backstroke with a 29.3 and she qualified for the state meet in the 100m and 200m backstroke with times of 1:03.2 and 2:22.2 respectively.
The COS distance swimmers also dropped all of their season best times during the Hawk Invite. Jess Catalano (El Diamante), Daylen Kinser (Redwood), Ezra Sisk (El Diamante), Braden Rohmann (Mt. Whitney), and Dani Haley (Sierra Pacific) were standouts. "I am really proud of our distance swimmers. Each of them dropped their times during this meet anywhere from five, to thirty-five seconds," stated Briano.
COS divers Easton Farmer (Golden West), Guy Woodward (Golden West), Liam Henshaw (Golden West) went 1st, 5th, and 7th respectively at the meet.
COS will next compete at the Central Valley Conference Championships April 20-22 at Merced College before headed down to the state championships at East Los Angeles College May 3-5.
