Giants Claim Titles at CVC Championships
State Championships will begin May 4
COS ATHLETICS
The Sequoias Men's and Women's teams repeated as conference champions and won it all at last week's CVC meet. Jillian Lambert (Golden West) earned 8 gold medals and was named Female Swimmer of the Meet, while Joshy Peters (Redwood) earned 8 gold medals and was crowned Male Swimmer of the Meet. Sofia Mora (Redwood) also took home 7 gold medals and was a contender for Swimmer of the Meet. Head Coach Ally Briano was voted Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach Caleb Hamilton recieved Coach of the Year regconition for the Men's side.
The Giants competed well as a team, Azulema Ayon (Exeter), Sofia Mora, Maycee Hyder (Porterville), and Jillian Lambert won the 200 Freestyle, 200 Medley and 400 Medley Relay.
Mark Marroquin (Kingsburg), Caleb Peltzer (Exeter), Ezra Sisk (El Diamante), & Connor Bruton (Mt. Whitney) brought home the 800 Freestyle Relay.
McKenna Ruby (El Diamante), Marley Thompson (El Diamante), Alexandra Bower (Redwood), & Eva Mcllwaine (Hanford West) captured the 800 Freestle Relay Championship.
Joshy Peters, Caleb Peltzer, Zachary Welch (Exeter) & Mark Marroquin captured the 200 Freestyle Championship.
In the process of all the Giants hardwork, 7 new school records were set.
Next up for COS Swim and Dive will be the State Championship meet beginning May 4 at East Los Angeles College.
