
Men's Swimming & Dive take 1st Place in COS Tri-Meet
The COS Men's Swimming team wrapped up the COS Tri-Meet against Clovis and Fresno City. The Giants finished in first place with a total of 942 points.
Daniel Haley (Sierra Pacific HS) set the bar high, securing first place in the Boys' 1650 freestyle event with a time of 20:23.67, marking a personal best for him this year. The Hunt brothers, Dylan (Harmony Home School Academy) and Nathan (Harmony Home School Academy), delivered a sensational performance, claiming the top two positions in the 200 freestyle, with Dylan finishing at 2:06.20 and Nathan following closely at 2:12.73.
In the 50 butterfly, Blake Sifton (Sierra Pacific HS) was incredible as he placed first with a swift time of 25.51, while Jake Chambers (Redwood HS) showcased his abilities by clinching third place with 26.08. Vinnie Sanchez (Golden West HS) and Jared Ojeda (Monache HS) displayed outstanding skill in the 100 backstroke, securing first and second place respectively, with impressive times of 57.41 and 1:02.86. Dylan Wiggins (Porterville HS) clinched the top spot in the 50 backstroke with a time of 28.83.
The Giants demonstrated their strength in the pool with a clean sweep in the 100 breaststroke, as Braden Rohman (Mt Whitney HS), Dylan Hunt, and Josh Mitchell (Redwood HS) all secured podium finishes as they finished 1:05.12, 1:05.77, and 1:09.08, respectively. Rohman continued to perform as he claimed first place in 50 breaststroke with a time of 28.94, while Dylan Hunt secured second place with 31.27. The team's excellence extended to the 100 individual medley, where Jake Chambers, Augusto DeCastro (Exeter HS), and Jackson LoBue (Monache HS) showcased their versatility by securing the top three spots by finishing 59.10, 1:01.40, and 1:01.80, respectively.
In the diving competition, Easton Farmer (Golden West HS) and Jackson Coon (Redwood HS) delivered outstanding performances, securing first and third place respectively in both, the 1 meter and 3 meter events. Farmer scored 260.85 in the 1 meter diving and 250.30 in the 3 meter, while Coon scored 146.40 and 141.75 in the respective events.
The Giants last meet before preparing for the playoffs will be Saturday, April 6 at the Bakersfield Invite, which will be at 10:00 a.m. at Bakersfield College.
