
COS Men’s Swimming & Dive was GIANT at the COS Invite
The COS team secured first place in the COS Invite, while facing off against opponents from Merced, Modesto, San Joaquin Delta, and Fresno City, the Giants showcased their ability in the pool. COS finished in first with a total of 715 points, while San Joaquin Delta, who finished in second, had 586 points, and Modesto, who finished in third, had 498 points.
In the 200 medley relay, COS demonstrated their strength by clinching both second and third place. The Giant's A lineup, featuring Vinnie Sanchez (Golden West HS), Braden Rohman (Mt Whitney HS), Blake Sifton (Sierra Pacific HS), and Augusto DeCastro (Exeter HS), secured second place with a time of 1:43.72. Not to be outdone, the B lineup, comprising Dylan Wiggins (Porterville HS), Josh Mitchell (Redwood HS), Jake Chambers (Redwood HS), and Jackson LoBue (Monache HS), showcased their skill by claiming third place with a time of 1:47.12. In the 200 freestyle relay, the A lineup, consisting of Jackson LoBue, Jake Chambers, Vinnie Sanchez, and Augusto DeCastro, secured second place with a time of 1:31.61, while the B lineup, comprising Blake Sifton, Dylan Wiggins, Dillon Coleman, and Braden Rohman, finished third with a time of 1:37.81.
Individually, Jake Chambers displayed his talent by securing second place in the 100 individual medley (IM) with a time of 59.36. Braden Rohman claimed third place in 50 breaststroke with a time of 29.15. Vinnie Sanchez emerged victorious in the 50 backstroke, clocking in at 26.67, a significant improvement from his previous time. Sanchez placed second in 100 backstroke with a personal best time of 57.92.
In the 50 butterfly, Jake Chambers claimed third place with a time of 25.81. Dylan Hunt (Harmony Home School Academy) demonstrated his talent in the 500 freestyle, finishing second with an impressive time of 5:49.91, marking a significant improvement. DeCastro and LoBue showcased their speed in the 50 freestyle, securing second and third place respectively, with times of 22.70 and 23.00.
In the diving competition, Easton Farmer (Golden West HS) and Jackson Coon (Redwood HS) delivered outstanding performances, securing first and third place respectively in both the 1 meter and 3 meter events. Farmer scored 219.15 in the 1 meter diving and 205.10 in the 3 meter, while Coon scored 105.75 and 90.75 in the respective events.
