
COS Mourns the Loss of former Student-Athlete, Coach, Greg Flenory
Greg Flenory was a teacher, coach, and mentor to thousands of young people in the Central Valley region.
The College of the Sequoias is saddened to hear the news that current Assistant Track and Field Coach, and former COS Student-Athlete, Greg Flenory passed away on November 17th, 2022 after a long bout with cancer. Flenory was 65 years old.
Greg Flenory, most recently serving as an Assistant Track and Field Coach at COS, will long be remembered for his impact he had on so many lives in our region. Flenory was a Redwood High, COS, and Cal State Hayward graduate and spent his entire 34-year professional life helping youth in our area through athletics and academics.
Coach Flenory helped open up El Diamante High School in 2002, becoming the school's first Athletic Director, where he served until his retirement in 2017. Prior to working at El Diamante, Coach Flenory coached many different sports at Redwood High School, and Clovis High School including Track and Field, Football, Cross Country, Wrestling, and Soccer. For his outstanding work, Flenory was the Athletic Director of the Year in the CIF section, the California State Norman Mackenzie Award winner, and was recently inducted into El Diamante's Hall of Fame inaugural class.
