
COS Women's Basketball Travels to Merced is CVC Showdown
The Giants Women's Basketball team continued their strong season as they faced off against West Hills-Lemoore last Wednesday at home this past week.
COS cruised to a 70-37 win over the Golden Eagles. Shae Sanchez and Dejanee Gill each scored 14 points. Hailey Scott hauled in a team high 10 rebounds. The Giants defense was all over the floor as they had 16 steals as a team.
The Giants continued their home stand against Taft on Saturday. The Giants had a strong showing by defeating Taft 106-29 behind double-digit scoring from 7 different players. Alaysia Reed led the team with 20 points. Shae Sanchez had a solid all-around game as she finished with a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while also tallying 6 assists.
COS then hosted rival Fresno City College and came away with the 75-62 win. Shae Sanchez scored 17 points and Hailey Scott recorded a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Scott also shot 60% from the floor. Alaysia Reed and Dejanee Gill chipped in with 10 points each.
The COS women's basketball team now travels to Merced this Saturday February 9th at 5pm. COS currently sits at 7-1 in conference play, one game behind league leading Merced who sits 8-0. COS' currently sits at 22-3 overall in which two of COS' losses come at the hands of Merced. Merced is 22-3 overall and has won 18 games in a row.
