The Giants start the season 3-2

The COS Giants Women's Tennis team has started the year 3-2.

vs Antelope Valley 

To open the season, the College of the Sequoias Giants defeated Antelope Valley College 8-1. Summer Herrera (Mt. Whitney HS) / Brooke Ray (Sierra Pacific HS) won in #1 doubles as they defeated Sydney Bush/Cecily Sanchez. In #2 singles, Ray also defeated Nicole Padilla in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). Herlinda Barrios (Exeter HS) won in #4 singles as she beat Arianett Avina in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).  

vs Canyons 

The Giants fell just short as they lost to College of the Canyons 4-5. Tillie Wendt (Exeter HS) / Herlinda Barrios won in #2 doubles 8-2, including a second tiebreaker 7-2. In #4 singles, Barrios also won in straight sets (6-3, 6-1). 

vs Shasta 

COS took on Shasta College and defeated them 9-0. Cailyn Jensen (Redwood HS) won in straight sets in #2 singles. Adiani Tobon Garcia (Mt Whitney HS) also performed well has she won in #3 singles in straight sets. Summer Herrera and Hannah Salazar (Tulare Western) won in straight sets in #1 doubles.  

vs Reedley 

The COS Giants defeated Reedley 9-0. Summer Herrera / Brooke Ray won in #1 doubles over Jocylin Martinez/Cierra Ramirez 8-2. Cailyn Jensen / Hannah Salazar won in #2 doubles as they defeated Ebony Rodriguez/Jasmine Vildosola 8-0. Herrera then beat Cierra Ramirez in straight sets in #1 singles (6-0, 6-0). 

vs Fresno City 

Against Fresno City, the Giants lost 7-2. In #3 singles, Tillie Wendt beat Sarah Vor in straight sets (6-0. 6-3). Also in #6 singles, Hannah Salazar won 2-1 (6-4, 5-7, 10-8). 

Next Up 

The Giants are now 3-2 on the season and will go on the road on Tuesday, February 27 to Porterville College and on Thursday, Feburary 29, they will travel to Modesto College. They will return home to host Reedley College this Friday, March 1st starting at 1 pm.
