Tour de Cuesta Invitational – San Luis Obispo – October 7, 2016
After not competing in the team's race in Modesto last week, Adam Gonzalez returned to competition with an outstanding effort in placing 3rd out of 71 finishers. He was just 2 seconds from 2nd place and led the COS Men's Team to a third place finish, only 2 points from second place in the 8-team field. The first two teams in the field were Mt SAC and host Cuesta College. The team's overall performance was hampered when Gary Austin was injured and was unable to finish the race.
The Women's Team won their 4th invitational of the year against several of the strongest teams in Southern California. Once again leading the way for the Lady Giants were Alyssa Block and Jordyn Zorn who placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. Running her best race of the year, Ariana Jasso placed 8th to strongly aid the victory. Coming in behind the Giants in the 8-team field were the teams from Mt SAC, Saddleback College, and Cuesta College.
Coach David Bronzan was pleased with both the Women's and Men's team performances on the very difficult, hilly course.
The next race for the teams will be Friday, October 14, at the Mt SAC Invitational in Walnut, California.
