Men's and Women's Teams CVC Champs
After a two-week break from racing the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams returned to competing at the Central Valley Conference Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on October 27th. Both teams won the championship titles in dominating fashion.
The Women's team took the top seven places in their race to score a perfect 15 points. The top racers for the Lady Giants over the 5K course, in order, were: Alyssa Block (18:52), Jordyn Zorn (19:24), Jewel Jasso (19:44), Sarah Reid (19:56), Ariana Jasso (20:08), Kelsay McClendon (20:24), and Elizabeth Sartuche (20:24).
The Men's team was also very impressive in their victory by taking seven of the top ten places in the 4-mile race. The top seven finishers for the men's 16-member team were: champion Adam Gonzalez (21:24), Rogaciano Ortiz Silva (2nd, 21:49), Arturo Ochoa (3rd, 21:53), Adrian Solis (6th, 22:12), Matthew Villarreal (7th, 22:18), Miguel Flores (9th, 22:24), and Luis Gonzalez (10th, 22:37). The Giants outscored the 2nd place Fresno City College team 19-40.
The next race for both championship teams will be Friday, November 4th at the Northern California Championships in Rocklin. Currently the Lady Giants are ranked 1st and the men's team is ranked 4th in NorCal.
"We are getting into outstanding shape to race at the right time. The next three weeks should be very exciting for the teams with NorCal and State coming up!" said Coach David Bronzan.
