COS Teams Move Up in State Rankings
After strong performances by the Women's and Men's Cross Country teams at the Mt. SAC Invitational last Friday both teams have moved up in the state rankings.
The women's team won the 17-team meet with Alyssa Block (18:19) and Jordyn Zorn (18:26) placing first and second individually in the 126-finisher field. Completing the women's winning team effort were Jewel Jasso in 15th, Elizabeth Sartuche in 17th, Sarah Reid in 21st, Ariana Jasso in 22nd, and Kelsay McClendon in 33rd. With their victory over their second-place host, Mt. SAC, the Giants moved ahead of the Mounties into 2nd place in the latest state rankings.
Led by Adam Gonzalez, 8th place (21:27), Rogaciano Ortiz Silva, 30th (22:16), and Arturo Ochoa, 31st (22:17), the men's team placed third in their 17-team race comprised of 153 finishers. The men's team continues to improve each race moving up to 13th in the latest state rankings released this week.
The next competition for the Giants will be Thursday, October 27th at the Central Valley Conference Championships to be held at Woodward Park, Fresno.
