
COS Baseball Begins April with a series win over Reedley
In April, the College of the Sequoias Giants began by facing Reedley College in a three-game series, by winning two out of the three games. They then played against Coalinga College and Reedley College again the following week. The Giants defeated Coalinga College 11-6 but lost to Reedley College by the same score.
4/2/24 | COS 10 - Reedley 5
In the first game of the series, the Giants won 10-5 as Kaleb Castanon (El Diamante HS), Isaiah Munoz (Clovis North HS), and Diego Sanchez (Bakersfield Christian HS) led the team with strong performances. Castanon went 4-for-6 with 3 RBIs, which included a 2-run triple, Munoz went 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs, and Sanchez added another 2 RBIs. Keine Prendez (Dinuba HS) got the win and Nicholas Morelli (Clovis HS) secured the save with 4 innings pitched.
4/4/24 | COS 12 - Reedley 10
The Giants continued their winning streak with a 12-10 victory over Reedley College. Benjamin Rodriguez (Tulare Western HS) played a pivotal role with clutch hits, including a game-tying RBI double in the 6th inning and a crucial 3-run double in the 7th inning that propelled the Giants to victory. Kaleb Castanon, Isaiah Munoz, and Rodriguez led the offensive charge, with Castanon going 4-for-5, Munoz contributing 3 RBIs, and Rodriguez delivering 5 RBIs. Aaron Prieto (Fowler HS) secured the win, with Javier Altamirano (Mt Whitney HS) notching the save.
4/6/24 | COS 0 - Reedley 5
In a tough match, the Giants fell short against Reedley College, losing 5-0. It marked the first time COS was shut out since last season. Despite the loss, Jesse Ortega (Dinuba HS) and Kaleb Castanon showcased their skills with a hit and a stolen base, respectively.
4/16/24 | COS 11 - Coalinga 6
The Giants bounced back with a resounding 11-6 victory over the Coalinga Falcons. Diego Sanchez, Keine Prendez, and Jacob Jiles (Cesar Chavez HS)led the offense, each recording 3 RBIs. Sanchez went 4-for-5 including a key 2-run single that took the lead, Prendez was perfect at 4-for-4, and Jiles contributed by going 3-for-4. AJ Bekedam earned the win, while Aaron Prieto secured a 3-inning save, sealing the Giants' triumph.
4/17/24 | COS 6 – Reedley 11 (13 innings)
In a hard-fought battle, COS faced Reedley College and lost 11-6 in an intense 13-inning showdown. Despite a strong performance, the Giants couldn't secure the win, with Reedley winning in extra innings. Jesse Ortega, Isaiah Munoz, and Diego Sanchez led the offensive charge, combining for all 5 RBIs. Ortega showcased his hitting with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs, Munoz belted his 4th home run of the season, and Sanchez contributed 2 RBIs.
