
Seven Student-Athletes Receive CVC Postseason Honors
Central Valley Conference (CVC) has announced their 2023 Postseason Awards.
Isaiah Munoz, a shortstop from Clovis North HS, was named CVC Co-Player of the Year, as he hit .399 with 6 HRs and 39 RBIs this season. This also includes a 23-game hitting streak during the season that started on February 13. Munoz also set a new school-record with 21 doubles.
BJ Rodriguez, Nicholas Morrelli, and Alex Lopez were named to the All-CVC First Team. Rodriguez is an outfielder/pitcher from Tulare Western HS that hit a conference-leading .413 and added 7 HRs and 40 RBIs this past season. His 7 HRs was the 2nd most in the conference. Morelli, a right-handed pitcher from Clovis HS, was 2nd in the conference in ERA with a 2.84 ERA. He also ranked 4th in the conference in WHIP with 1.36. Lopez, a catcher from Golden West HS, was not only a CVC First Team selection, as he was also named Freshman of the Year. This past season, he batted .362 and added 4 HRs, which put him in the top 5 in the conference.
The CVC also named Keine Prendez to the All-CVC Second Team. Prendez, a left-handed pitcher from Dinuba HS, went 6-6 and started 14 games this season. He also added a 1.57 WHIP, which puts him amongst the top pitchers in the conference.
Kaleb Castanon and Diego Sanchez were named All-CVC Honorable Mentions. Castanon, an outfielder from El Diamante HS, batted .323 in conference play this past season. Sanchez, a first baseman from Bakersfield Christian HS, batted .319 in conference play. He also added 24 RBIs, which put him in the top 10 in the conference.
