
COS Men's Basketball Update
The Giants Men's Basketball team continued their season as they faced off against Merced on the road this past Wednesday.
In a game that featured a tie at halftime 32-32, the Giants outscored the Blue Devils 34-28 in the second half to pull away with the victory 66-60. This improved the Giant's winning streak to an impressive 7 games.
Keshawn Gibbs led the Giants in scoring with 18 points. T.J. Givance added 14 points and a team high 8 rebounds.
The next game of the week came against Fresno on Saturday at home. After a back and forth contest, the Giants lost the nail biter by only two points as the Rams escaped the win 61-59. This game snapped the Giant's 7-game winning streak.
For the Giants, Keshawn Gibbs led all players with 23 points and 5 assists. Tristan Forsyth added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
COS got back on the winning track at Reedley College on Monday night by defeating the Tigers 80-58. Tristan Forsyth and Keshawn Gibbs scored 17 points each to pace the Giants.
COS then went on to defeat Porterville College at home 66-62 in a game that saw the scored tied 6 times and seven different lead changes. The final tie of the game ended when COS' DeWayne Holmes nailed a three point basket with 37 seconds to go in the game to put the Giants up 63-60. Keshawn Gibbs would go on to hit 3 out of 4 free throws in the final 15 seconds of the game to seal the win.
COS now sits 16-8 overall and 9-3 in CVC play which puts them a half a game out of second place against Columbia.
COS returns home this Saturday at 6pm against West Hills College Lemoore. General admission is $5.
