Softball on a 5-game Winning Streak
COS is headed into the Taft game with a record of 17-7 (2-2) with a 3 game winning streak. They ended up beating Taft 8-0 with the game finishing after 6 innings due to the run rule. The Giants were able to get this win due to the performances from Islea Villareal (Dinuba HS) and Grace Chojnacki (Mission Oak HS). Villareal went 2-for-3 with an RBI as Chojnacki went 2-for-3 and 5 RBIs, which included a 3-run HR. Chojnacki also picked up her 7th win on the season on the mound as she only allowed 2 hits and had 5 strikeouts.
In their next game, they took on Porterville College as they continued Central Valley Conference play. They won with a final score of 8-0. This was a team effort as 6 players scored at least one run each. Islea Villarreal, Susie Ortega (Mission Oak HS), and Kristina Nunes (Riverdale HS) had big days at the plate. Villareal went 3-for-3 with one RBI, Ortega went 2-for-2 with 1 RBI, and Nunes had a solo HR. Bailee Bustos (Mission Oak HS) continues to contribute as she went 2-for-3 with a RBI and also pitched all 5 innings including 10 strikeouts.
The Giants will host West Hills-Coalinga on Tuesday, March 19th for a doubleheader with the first game starting at 1 pm and the second game starting approximately at 3 pm.
