Cunningham Headed to Northridge
Two sport athlete Kianna Cunningham received a scholarship offer from Cal State Northridge and will begin this fall as a student-athlete for the Matadors. Cunningham, a 2015 high school graduate or Woodlake High, compete last school year for COS in Volleyball and track and field. Cunningham will compete for the women's track and field program at CSU Northridge. "We are so happy for her that she earned a scholarship after only one year at COS" said head track coach Curtis Allen. "She just kept getting faster and put up some great times."
Cunningham, who stands at six foot tall, was also a first team all-conference selection for the Giants in Volleyball last year. "She just kept getting better" said COS volleyball coach Kim Rix. "She was gaining interest from four year coaches in Volleyball as well and I have no doubt she would have earned multiple offers in volleyball if she would have returned."
Cunningham was a NCAA qualifier out of high school and took advantage of her time at COS and she leaves COS with the second fastest 100 meter time, and second farthest long jump in COS school history behind Sheila Hicks who owns both records from 1983.
