Giants run past the competition in BVC Championships
Both the men and women College of the Sequoias track team captured the top overall spot in the Bay Valley Conference Championships this past weekend.
The men ran away with first place, finishing with 314 points.
Gary Austin placed first in both the 800 (1:57.25) and 1500 meter (4:00.90) events.
A plethora of COS runners ran in both the 5000 and 10000 meter races. Luis Gonzalez came away in first place in both.
Bryce Huggins won both the long jump and triple jump, earning 20 points to the Giants team total.
On the women's side, COS defeated the competition with 216 points.
Alyssa Block out ran teammate Jordyn Zorn in both 800 and 15000 meter for first place.
Tarika Moses ran one race, but she made it count. Moses placed first in the 100 meter dash at 11.91.
Dhakiya Omawahleh ran five events, finishing first in the 400 meter hurdles and shot put.
Next up for the Giants is the NorCal Championship Finals, Saturday at De Anza College.
