Two more Giants sign with four-year universities
College of the Sequoias has moved two more players -- linebacker Jeremiah Russell and running back Drake Beno -- on to four-year universities.
Russell (Knoxville, Tenn.) has signed with Kentucky Christian, an NAIA college based in Grayson, Ky.; while Beno (El Diamante High) committed to Chapman University, and NCAA Division III college in Orange.
Russell made 30 tackles, including 6.5 for losses, made two sacks, had two interceptions and broke up one pass last season for the Giants, who went 6-5 and reached their first bowl since 2010.
Beno rushed 12 times for 56 yards, 4.7 yards per carry. He also caught two passes for 36 yards and returned one kickoff for 6 yards.
Russell and Beno join defensive linebacker Noah Wright (Lemoore), quarterback Gus Villareal (Dinuba) and defensive back Israel Garcia (Dinuba) as Giants who have committed to four-year schools. Wright signed with NCAA Division I San Jose State, while Villareal and Garcia are headed to Southwest Assemblies of God, an NAIA university in Waxahachie, Texas.
