Giants compete in Golden Gate Classic
After being ranked No.1 in the Northern California Regional Poll, the College of the Sequoias men's basketball team went 1-2 in the Golden Gate Classic at the Community College of San Francisco.
Sequoias were victorious in the opening round against San Joaquin Delta, winning 86-60.
Austin Armstead had a team-high 23 points off the bench. The sophomore guard was 8-of-9 from the field and 5-for-6 behind the three-point line.
Contra Costa took down the Giants 82-75 on the second day. COS led at halftime 34-29 but a 53 point second half by the Comets proved to be the difference. Five Comets scored in double figures with Kemare Wright leading the way with 22 points.
On the final day of the Classic, Armstead's 17 points were not enough, as COS lost to Diablo Valley 77-58.
Sequoias host San Diego Mesa at Porter Field House on Friday at 7 p.m. before hosting the Pepsi Wyndham Tournament on December 15-17.
