
COS Holds Off Fresno City for Giant Conference Win
FRESNO, Calif. - The College of the Sequoias men's basketball team secured a 77-72 road victory over Fresno City on Saturday night, improving their conference record to 4-0. The Giants displayed resilience and teamwork to hold off a late surge by the home team, improving their overall record to 15-3.
Sophomore Davis White (Saugus HS) led the charge with a game-high 19 points, including 5 three-pointers, while adding six rebounds and seven assists. Jaden Haire (Hanford West HS) continued his consistent play with a double-double, tallying 17 points and 11 rebounds. Tyree Gill (Burbank HS) chipped in 16 points, hitting four 3-pointers, and pulled down 8 rebounds. Ahmad Clark (Atlanta, GA) provided a production off the bench by contributing 10 points and 7 rebounds in just 17 minutes.
COS led 35-28 at halftime, fueled by ball movement and timely three-point shooting. The Giants extended their lead to double digits early in the second half, but Fresno City clawed back with a late rally.
"We made some big plays when we needed them most," Head Coach Dallas Jensen said. "Davis was outstanding tonight, and Jaden dominated the glass. This was a total team effort, and I'm proud of how we stayed composed in a tough environment."
The Giants shot 40.6% from the field and 34.4% from three-point range while controlling the glass including 17 offensive rebounds. They also recorded 21 assists as a team.
The Giants will return to action on Wednesday, January 22, when they travel to Merced College for another key conference matchup. The Giants will then return home to face Porterville College on Saturday, January 25, with tipoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Porter Fieldhouse.
