
Seven Giants Earn Central Valley Conference Honors
Visalia, CA – Seven College of the Sequoias men's basketball players earned honors as the Central Valley Conference (CVC) announced its annual awards on Saturday.
"We've got a group of guys who can impact the game in so many ways. Whether it's scoring, rebounding, or defending, they all embrace their roles," Head Coach Dallas Jensen said.
Jaden Haire (Hanford HS) earned All-Conference First Team honors after a stellar sophomore campaign. The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi signee led the CVC in rebounding, averaging 10.4 rebounds per game, while ranking third in scoring at 15.8 points per game. His ability to control the glass was unmatched, finishing second in the conference in offensive rebounding (4.4 Off Rebs/game). Haire was also one of the most efficient scorers in the CVC, ranking second in field goal percentage (58.9%). Defensively, he made a strong impact, averaging 1.0 block per game (sixth in CVC) and 0.9 steals per game, securing a spot on the All-Defense First Team.
Davis White (Saugus HS) was a key offensive player for the Giants, earning All-Conference First Team honors. The sophomore guard averaged 13.8 points per game, ranking ninth in scoring in the CVC, while also showcasing his elite shooting ability by finishing fourth in three-point field goal percentage (40.0%) and sixth in three-pointers made per game (2.4 3PM/G). White also proved to be a disruptive defender, ranking 14th in the CVC in steals (1.4 SPG). He was a crucial leader for the team on both ends of the floor. His strong play has earned him multiple Division I offers, including CSU-Fullerton, Fresno State, and Cal Baptist, among others, as he established himself as one of the top wings in the conference.
Tyree Gill (Burbank HS) was recognized on both ends of the floor, earning All-Conference First Team and All-Defense First Team honors. He averaged 14.5 points per game (fifth in the CVC) while contributing 5.8 rebounds per game, making him one of the most well-rounded players in the league. Gill was also an efficient scorer, ranking 12th in the conference in field goal percentage at 50.6%. On the defensive end, he showcased his versatility, finishing 14th in steals per game (1.4 SPG), further showcasing his ability to be a two-way player for the Giants.
Leyton McGovern (Anderson) made an immediate impact in his freshman season, earning CVC Freshman of the Year and All-Conference First Team honors. The Cal State-Bakersfield signee averaged 14.0 points per game (eighth in the CVC) and showed his efficiency by shooting 45.8% from the field. He was one of the conference's best perimeter shooters, finishing seventh in three-point field goal percentage (37.0%). McGovern was also a disruptive defender, ranking sixth in the conference in steals per game (2.0 SPG).
Raydon Thorson (Queen Creek) put his defensive abilities on full display this season, earning CVC Defensive Player of the Year honors along with an All-Conference Honorable Mention selection. A relentless defender, Thorson led the conference in steals per game (2.5 SPG) while also establishing himself as the top facilitator in the CVC, averaging 7.3 assists per game. His ability to control the offense and take care of the basketball was unmatched, as he posted a conference-best 6.8 assist-to-turnover ratio, making him one of the most efficient playmakers in the league.
"Raydon sets the tone for us on both ends of the floor," Jensen said. "His ability to disrupt opposing offenses, create for his teammates, and take care of the ball makes him one of the top guards in the conference."
Cameron Kelly (Decatur) earned All-Conference Honorable Mention and a place on the Freshman All-Conference Team after a strong freshman campaign. He ranked eighth in rebounding (5.9 RPG) while averaging 7.2 points per game. Kelly's defensive presence in the paint was a major factor in his recognition, finishing second in the CVC in blocks per game (1.6 BPG). His ability to contest shots and protect the rim gave the Giants a dominant interior defensive presence.
Kevin Anderson (Atlanta) rounded out the Giants' honorees, earning a spot on the Freshman All-Conference Team. The sharpshooting guard ranked fifth in the CVC in three-pointers made per game (2.1 3PM/G) while finishing eighth in the conference in three-point shooting percentage at 36.5%. His ability to stretch the floor and provide an outside scoring punch was a key factor in Sequoias' offensive game plan.
The postseason accolades solidify the Giants' dominance in the Central Valley Conference, showcasing a deep and talented team that made its mark on the league. With experienced veterans and rising young student-athletes, College of the Sequoias reinforced its status as one of the premier programs in the state.
"Winning six straight conference titles is a testament to the work our guys put in every single day. This group was locked in from the start, and they earned everything they accomplished this season," Jensen said. "We've checked off two big goals—winning the CVC and securing a top-four seed. Now, it's about going 1-0 each game and defending our home court as we chase a state championship."
