Giants split two in Chico
COS split their first two matches of the season in Northern California on Friday.
Tournament hosts Butte swept the Giants 3-0 in the season opener for COS. Roadrunners Brianna Souza and Kaylee Shoemaker combined for 14 kills in the victory for the hosts.
The Giants struggled in the first set with Lassen College, going the distance with the Cougars. Lassen took advantage winning 25-23.
Sequoias and head coach Kim Rix were not fazed and bounced back in the second set with a 25-15 victory. COS cruised in the third and fourth sets by winning both by seven, 25-18.
Next up for the Giants is the MPC Classic on Sept. 1. COS is slated to play Monterey Peninsula at 10 a.m., and San Jose at 3 p.m.
