Volleyball Wins Their Home Opener

VISALIA - After dropping two matches, COS Volleyball won its second straight match on Wednesday, as they defeated Porterville 3-1 in their home opener.
"We were really excited to finally host a match," head coach Kim Rix said. "We have awesome fans and we were able to pull out a victory for them."
The Giants (4-2,1-0) came out aggressive and took the first set 25-14.
In the second set, both teams took turns leading. COS would go to match point, but Porterville prevailed and took the set 27-25.
Tied at 1-1, COS took the remaining two sets with ease 25-16, and 25-9.
With the win, Sequoias begins their Central Valley Conference campaign tied for first place.
"The team has really made an effort to learn from our losses," Rix said. "Even though we still have areas where we need to improve, we are able to becoming more consistent and working on cutting back on enforced errors."
On Friday, Cerro Coso will travel to Visalia to face the Giants. The match will begin at 5 p.m. at Thomas Porter Field House.
