Volleyball come up short against the Lobos
Volleyball traveled to Monterey but they couldn't come back to Visalia with a win, as they lost 3-1.
"Monterey was a great team who put up one of the biggest blocks we've faced this season," head coach Kim Rix said. "We were beginning to hit around and through them, but we started out slow in game four with an 8 point deficit and weren't able to pull out the win."
COS dropped the first two sets 25-18. Alyssa Carroll and Kacy Falk gave the Giants fits as the duo led Monterey with nine kills each.
Sequoias came back in the third set 25-20 with the help of Idalis Rubalcava. Rubalcava had 19 kills, 11 digs, and was responsible for 22 points the entire match.
With the Giants forcing a fourth set, Monterey was on the ropes. The Lobos stayed on their feet and stole the set 25-23.
Gabi Crookshanks had 12 kills and Dulany Jones led the team with 26 assists.
The Giants host a conference match against West Hills Coalinga on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
"Wednesday is a very important match for us," Rix said. "West Hills is a strong team this year who are coming from a huge win vs Reedley. We know they are going to be fired up and coming for us. Our strategy is to focus on each individual game, but also look towards the future and see how much we need to improve, in order to meet our team goals."
