VISALIA - COS Volleyball's six match win streak came to an end on Wednesday, as they lost 3-2 to Taft.
"We were really disappointed in our performance on Wednesday," head coach Kim Rix said. "We started out slow in each set. Taft is extremely consistent and took advantage of that."
The Giants (16-5, 13-2 CVC) dropped the first two sets 25-17 and 28-26, thanks to the help of Taft (14-11, 12-3 CVC) outside hitter Virginia Salanoa-Sagapolu. She had 19 kills on the night.
With their back's against the wall, Sequoias quickly battled back and won the next two sets 26-24 and 25-17.
The fifth set between the second and third place team's went back-and-forth, but the Cougars came out on top 15-13.
With the loss, COS no longer have a chance to clinch a share of the Central Valley Conference.
The Giants will host No. 5 Fresno City on Friday. The final regular season match will begin at 6 p.m.
"We have to have a good practice today and regroup for Fresno," Rix said. "We must learn from our errors on Wednesday and move on."
