Volleyball lose first conference game of the season
FRESNO - Volleyball's seven-match conference unbeaten streak was snapped 3-2 by No. 5 Fresno City on Wednesday.
The Rams extended their Central Valley Conference winning streak to 68 straight matches.
"I've been saying all season that there are many areas in our game where we need to improve," head coach Kim Rix said. "Tonight was a big reality check, showing us exactly how much we need to improve in order to compete with the top teams."
COS (10-4, 7-1 CVC) could not find their rhythm and were not given any chances by Fresno City (17-1, 8-0 CVC). The Rams only committed two errors in their 25-13 first set win. FCC continued the momentum in the second set winning 25-12. Fresno City's sweep was complete after their 25-13 win in the third set.
After completing half the season in good shape, RIx believes her team has to stay focus in order to be successful.
"Second round of league is going to be much tougher than the first," Rix said. "We just have to learn from this loss, move on and get prepared for Porterville on Friday. We will focus on one match at a time and work on enhancing our strengths and improving our weaknesses."
Sequoias' next game is tomorrow, Oct. 14, as they travel to Porterville, to take on the Pirates at 6 p.m.
