
Giants headed to Reedley looking to end skid
COS (6-5-2 overall, 0-3-0 Central Valley Conference) will look to end a three-match losing streak when it plays at Reedley (7-4-1, 1-2-0) on Oct. 25.
The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Giants received seven votes and the Tigers six votes in the most recent California Community College Sports Information Association state poll, released Oct. 15.
COS is out to rebound from a 4-0 loss to Taft on Oct. 22.
Justice Rodriguez scored off a Carla Rodriguez assist in the first half for the only goal the conference co-leading Cougars (8-4-2, 3-0-0) would need. Esmeralda Garcia, Kaitlin Dansie and Juliet Garcia Cruz added second-half goals as Taft pulled away and kept pace with state No. 2-ranked Fresno City atop the CVC standings.
Maria Corral (Farmersville) got off the Giants' only shot on goal. COS goalkeeper Ciana Koo (Woodlake) made seven saves in 70 minutes while Maria Camacho (Lindsay) added three saves in 20 minutes.
Reedley is coming off a 4-2 upset victory over state No. 20 West Hills-Lemoore on Oct. 22.
The match at Reedley starts a string of five straight road games for the Giants. COS next plays at home at 1 p.m. Nov. 12 against Reedley.
